If you want your trade business to be found online, having a website is a must.

We know plenty of tradies rely on Facebook, and increasingly Instagram, as their main online presence, but your website is still so important.

But here’s the thing…  Facebook and Instagram are easy!  You don’t need to know how to write code or program, you just do everything on your phone and it couldn’t be easier.

And that’s awesome.  We love social media.  We’ve seen first-hand how good Instagram is working for some tradies and builders.

But your potential clients still want to see a website.  They might follow you on FB and Insta, but when things get serious they want to see a serious website that makes your business looks good, no wait, amazing!

Where do you start though?  That’s where we come in.  We know how to make websites and online marketing for tradies work, and we’re here to make it happen.

Why would a tradie need a website?

Of course plenty of tradies operate perfectly well without a website.  Perhaps without any online presence at all.

If you’re getting all your work from subcontracting to other builders, then of course you don’t need a website.

If you’ve been in business for 30 years and get a tonne of business from referrals, well maybe you don’t need a website then either.

But remember that a lot of people will research a business online before making contact, so consider that some people being referred to you are searching for you online first, and if they can’t find any trace of you, is that putting some of them off making contact?

Maybe you have a killer Facebook or Instagram presence and get plenty of business through those channels.  That’s awesome, but if people then go looking for your website for more information, and can’t find anything, are you losing some of them?

Taking the risk of not having a website, or even having a rubbish website, just isn’t worth it if you’re serious about your business.

A great website can help to generate new leads for your trade business and can help to convert referrals from other sources.

A seriously good website can be a major asset to your business, and could be one of the best investments you make.

But I’m huge on Facebook and Instagram!

That’s awesome!  Instagram is proving to be a brilliant form of online marketing for tradies and builders.

As a visual medium, it’s the perfect way to build up a portfolio of your work.  Good tradies are using it not only to show off their work, but also to give a real insight into the way they run their businesses.

It can allow tradies to connect not only with private clients, but also with other tradies and builders that they can do business with.

So it’s great.  It’s awesome.  But you know what?  It’s not yours.  You don’t own it, and you don’t fully control it.

What do we mean by that?  Well you’re just publishing on someone else’s platform.  What if Facebook or Instagram die?  What if people move on to other platforms?  Right now that looks unlikely, but things can change so quickly online.  Look at MySpace for those of you old enough to remember…

Your website is different though.  You own it.  Once you have that domain name to match your business, and provided you keep paying your $10 or so each year, no one can take it away from you.

You can update it, you can move it, you can do whatever you want with it as you’re the one with the control.

So what we’re saying is that social media is brilliant and tradies should definitely be using it, but you should also have your website as your main hub.  Your online home for your business, essentially.
